Benign tumors, cysts, etc are unusual growths within or on the body that are non-cancerous. This means that unlike malignant cancer, they will not spread rapidly throughout the body. Treatment for benign growths may range from cyst drainage to surgical removal depending on the specific situation. Often times, a benign growth will be allowed to remain so long as it does not cause discomfort for the patient.
